"I am thrilled to the fact that I am putting on french in some of my songs considering the fact that french artists are not known in the U.S. I would love to change that a bit and share it to the world. Many people came to me asking if I could change the words to English in the French parts, my answer to that was that my point of being different and me as an artist period is to show who I am from the get go! This is where I'm from!"

Ride Out Wit Da Gneous Vol5

Ride Out Wit Da Gneous Vol 5 by DJ Gneous

Ali J’s Music Review: Ride out Wit Da Gneous Vol. 5

When I listened to DJ Gneous’s latest mix, Ride out With Da Gneous Vol.5’, INSTANTLY I flashed back to my childhood my hood where music was the only sanctuary that brought me peace in a world of confusion. Lyrically, the collaboration of artists and their bars brought competition that I haven’t heard in a long time! These artists brought it on this mix & brought passion, of course that’s something you don’t hear with today’s mainstream artists. The 3 factors of their rap: MONEY, FAME, ASS! This mix speaks volumes, bringing today’s issues to the spotlight mixed with a 90’s feel of beats, sounds & scratches, the days when music was music, when artists could express themselves in more ways than one.
If you’re looking for that music with substance, that can withhold attention & bring out creativity, then surely this is the mixtape you need to hear! “Failure is not an option, Success is just a process”, this is encouragement that needs to be heard to encourage the generations who have lost hope! These are lyrics of true hip hop, words of the next generation, and thoughts of the poets of our time. CLEAR, CONCISE REALITY: just 3 of the words I would use to describe this mix. I was actually able to feel, & understand these artists & their background, I had the ability to break down & listen, ACTUALLY listen to these artists break down their emotions & sincerity to master their craft while stating the truth!
Of course there is no question to DJ Gneous’s artistry & ability to bring a mix full of wisdom & full of dedicated artists. This is the raw, uncut hip-hop that has been absent from today’s radio stations, mp3 players, IPods & Droids phones. This is the hip-hop that is frowned upon by bullshit politics & officials who hide behind their piles of money & shadows of devious destruction. If you are a true artist, poet, hip-hop listener or even just seeking raw reality, RAISE THOSE FUCKIN SPEAKERS UP: YOU JUST FOUND YOUR MUSIC SANCTUARY!!

Ali Joseph

Ride Out Wit Da Gneous Vol4

Ride Out Wit Da Gneous Vol4 by DJ Gneous

Ali J’s Music Review: Ride out Wit Da Gneous Vol. 4
In this mix, it is undeniable that the hip-hop feel is there, however I really didn’t get my complete adrenalin until 7 minutes into the mix, not that the first 2 music mixes was horrible, just at the beginning, I didn’t feel the tempo (different ears may have a different perspective, don’t shoot me).
One of the songs that really caught my ears was “When I Fly, You Fly, We Fly Together”. The tempo, beat & bars hit all at the right times, bringing the flavor HARD! When you listen to music, especially hip-hop, it goes beyond the lyrics: the base, tones & transitions all have to be in tact especially when it comes to a mix. This is just one of many of DJ Gneous’s mixes that truly shows that with all of the experience he has acquired, he has mastered music connection with the authentic hip-hop listening ear (noticed I said AUTHENTIC hip-hop listeners, lol).
The mix may not have been the strongest at the beginning, but the end went “BOOM”, straight in my ear drums. I mean DAMN ya boy had a message he needed to express! His bars were RIDICULOUS, hip-hop at its finest!! All I have to say is that when you get into this mix, you will get your rush of hip-hop artistry whether you’re at work, headed home, picking up the kids, or if you’re like me, bumping these true words first thing in the morning to start your day! Whatever & however you get you hip-hop rush, start it off & end it with some DJ Gneous to get your maximum exposure!!
Love, Peace & Respect,
Ali Joseph

Ride Out Wit Da Gneous Vol3

Ride Out Wit Da Gneous Vol 3 by DJ Gneous

Ali J’s Music Review: Ride out Wit Da Gneous Vol. 3
To me, any time is a great time for a great hip-hop mix, however when I listened to this Vol. 3 it got me thinking about a position I use to have a couple years ago, a bad position might I add. This surely would be one of those afternoon mixes that I would surely fuck with taking a lunch break! From beginning to end the choices of music were off the chain! A bit of hardcore with a taste of romantic & a side of feeling right is what I would use to describe this mix. Even though I would have not felt like going back to work, I would have been in a better mood & ready to finish off the day.

DJ Gneous has a unique style of mixing which shows in the work that he does. In this mix, he plays a really hot twist to Michael Jackson’s Human Nature which not too many people can do well with Michael’s songs & music & the artist flowed extremely well with the sound! This is the type of artistry that separates the “sayers” from the “doers”. When you ask DJ Gneous to bring it, expect him to go beyond & above what you ask of his music sense.

In the mindset of a TRUE hip-hop listener & fan, you hear a story whether similar to yours or not, either way somehow you can relate, understand, break it down & use the lyrics being spitted to you. There is surely a difference between Rap & Hip-Hop. DJ Gneous’s Vol. 3 mix IS the definition of that difference.

Love, Peace & Respect,
Ali Joseph
